Christmas globe ball ornament card

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. Houses light up in the dark and are festively decorated. This card is all about Christmas decorations. It features a Christmas ball ornament which you would normally hang on a Christmas tree or garland.

It’s a special Christmas ball ornament due to the subtle snow globe look. I remember my admiration for snow globes as a child. After shaking the snow globe for a few seconds, it felt like magic to see the glitters wander around. May your Christmas be magical: full of glitter and joy.

Step 1: Unfold the blank greeting card. Draw a circle in the middle of the card front. You can use a round object from your home for this step. For example a cup, tape or compass.

Step 2: Cut out the circle with a craft knife from the card front.

Step 3: Use alphabet stamps to stamp the text “Merry Christmas” on the card front. I used a combination of clear alphabet stamps attached on an acrylic block and a gold ink stamp pad.

Step 4: It’s time to create the snow-covered ground. Take a sheet of white paper. Cut out a small square of 11 x 2.5 CM. Then draw a curve along the length. Cut out the small part above the curve.

Step 5: Apply double-sided adhesive tape (or glue) to the backside of the card front, below the circle. Then attach the ground shape to it.

Step 6: Apply double-sided adhestive tape (or glue) to all borders on the backside of the card front. Then put a sheet of blue paper on it. Carefully remove the excess blue paper with a craft knife.

Step 7: Let’s draw the Christmas tree shape. Fold a small part of a sheet of white paper. Then draw half a Christmas tree from the folded area with a pencil.

Step 8: Unfold the Christmas tree shape and trace it on a sheet of green paper. Divide it into three shapes: the top part, the middle part (which covers both the top and middle) and the whole tree (as a plain triangle). Note: You can ignore the dashed lines. It’s to indicate the position of the shape compared to the whole tree 🙂

Step 9: Stack the tree shapes onto each other with double-sided adhesive tape (or glue) to create a depth effect. First the whole tree shape, then the middle part and last but not least the top part. Then fold the tree shapes by the length.

Step 11: Add foam pads to the backside of the Christmas tree and attach it to the card front.

Step 12: Take a grey pencil and draw little dots (snow flakes) in the blue sky around the Christmas tree.

Step 13: Let’s create the top of the Christmas ball ornament. Take a sheet of white paper and fold a small part of it. Remember you cut out a circle from the card front? Take the circle and fold it in half. Put the circle around the folded area of the white paper.

Step 14: Trace a small part of the folded circle with a pencil. Do it again, about 1 CM above the first pencil trace. Then draw the remaining lines of the Christmas ball top shape.

Step 15: Cut out the top shape with a craft knife or scissors. Place the shape on a sheet of yellow paper, trace it with a pencil and cut it out. Optional: for that glossy effect, you can put the top shape on the gold ink stamp pad.

Step 16: Attach the top shape to the card front, above the circle.
