Air balloon present card

An air balloon full of presents.. Who wouldn’t love that? How long would you stay up in the air, before you can no longer resist to unwrap the presents? Create this card and imagine.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Up in the air!

This card was crafted for a friend’s birthday in March. She’s a really creative person, so I had a lot of fun to craft something for her ๐Ÿ˜€

air balloon, card, step 1
Step 1: Grab a piece of cardboard. Draw a square of 0.4 inch. Make it a bit less “squarish” by drawing rounded corners.
Step 2: Cut out the square with a craft knife. Now you’ve created a template for your air balloon (the presents).

Step 3: We’re gonna use the template to draw shapes on the 4 colored paper which you reserved for the air balloon. Take 3 of the 4 sheets and draw 10 shapes on each of them. On the remaining one you draw 9 shapes. So in total you will have 39 shapes.

Step 4: Put the 40 present shapes together like an air balloon on a piece of paper. Trace the shape carefully with a pencil.
Step 5: Move the present shapes aside. Now cut out the traced shape with a craft knife. Cut about 0.2 inch more than the pencil border indicates. This way the air balloon background won’t be that much visible.

Step 6: Glue the air balloon background shape or use double-sided sticky tape. One by one you attach the present shapes onto it.

Step 8: Cut out the air balloon basket shape from brown paper. Draw small lines on it with a pen/pencil to make it look more realistic.

Step 9: Cut out a hair, face and shirt shape from colored paper. Try to make it look a bit like the birthday boy/girl by using the right colors.
Step 10: Glue the birthday boy/girl shapes and basket shape together.

Step 11: Take thin grey thread and cut 5 pieces. They should be about 3.2 inch each.
Step 12: Attach the threads one by one to the backside of the air balloon and the basket shape. You can use sticky tape or stickers to do this.
Step 13: Cut off the remaining thread with a scissors.
Step 14: Use glue or 3D stickers to attach the air balloon and the basket to the front side of the greeting card. Your card is ready now! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. The air balloon is so cute! The basket can also be replaced with a house, so it’s like the movie Up! but with presents ๐Ÿ˜€
